Do I need a credit card to start?

No. Your 45-day PRO trial starts the moment you sign up — no credit card required. You only enter payment info when you choose to upgrade to Growth or Pro at the end of the trial.

What happens after my trial ends?

After 45 days you can stay on the Free plan at no cost (50 properties and unlimited units, all features), or upgrade to Growth or Pro for a larger portfolio. Your data is never deleted. No downtime during the transition.

Is the Free plan really free forever?

Yes. After your trial, the Free plan costs $0/month permanently. You get 50 properties, unlimited units, and every single feature — AI, Stripe payments, inspections, analytics, platform import, and more (with the iOS app coming soon). The only reason to upgrade is if you manage more than 50 properties.

Are there any add-ons or feature gates?

None. Hatchkeep does not sell feature add-ons. AI, CSV import, platform migration, Stripe payments, analytics, vendor invoices, disbursements — everything is included on every plan. The only differentiator between plans is your property count limit.

How does online rent collection work?

Tenants pay via card (3.5% convenience fee, passed to tenant) or ACH bank transfer (1.3% fee, max $8). Payments flow through Stripe Connect to your connected bank account. Tenants can enable auto-pay to charge automatically on the due date each month.

Can I switch plans later?

Yes. Upgrade any time — new limits take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. Contact us if you need help with the transition.

Is my data secure?

All data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database, account-scoped so no data ever leaks between organizations. Every request is authenticated with JWT tokens. Bank account routing numbers are encrypted at rest with AES-256. We enforce CORS, rate limiting, and HTTPS-only access.
